International
Modal Analysis Conference Sponsored by
UNION COLLEGE AND SOCIETY FOR EXPERIMENTAL MECHANICS, INC.
In Cooperation With: Universita degli Stadi di Firenze and Politecnico di Torino To be held at the FIRENZE INCONTRA, CENTRO AFFARI FIRENZE (FLORENCE), ITALY APRIL 15-18,1991 In keeping with the true international structure of the modal analysis community, the Ninth International Modal Analysis Conference (IMAC) will convene in Florence, Italy. Engineers and scientists from 31 countries will present papers at this Conference attesting to the world’s acceptance of IMAC as the prestigious forum for the exchange of this knowledge. The Italian hosts and European community will sponsor a technology information center in the IMAC exhibit area. The technology center concept has been a most popular addition to the exhibit in recent years. On the succeeding pages is the preliminary technical program. Please note that this program is subject to change. This year’s technical program will feature a wide range of topics from basic tutorials to advanced analytical concepts. SEM and the IMAC staff extend a cordial invitation to the modal analysis community to attend the first IMAC to be held in Italy. For further details, including housing and travel information, call or FAX SEM at (203) 790-6373; FAX (203) 790-4472.

50. Model Updating: The GARTEUR Project R.O. Hayon and DJ.Ewins For the past three years, the aerospace research community in Europe has been collaborating on a GARTEUR-sponsoredexercise to explore model updating methods. Using common test cases, researchers in France, Netherlands, Germany and the UK have sought to locate and to correct errors in dynamic models of a range of structures. In this session, the coordinators of the project will first summarize the overall plan of the activity and this will be followed by presentations from representatives of each of the participating organizations who will describe their individual experiences and results for the set test cases. The major participants are the national aerospace research institutes in each of the four participating countries: ONERA France; DLR Germany; NLR -The Netherlands; and RAE UK with contributions a161 from University Besanco. France; Dornier; MBB; University of Kaasel. Denmark; Fokker. The Netherlands; Katholic University of Leuven, Belgium; and Imperial College, London. UK.
