CORPORATE MEMBERS The Society for Experimental Mechanics is fortunate to receive the support of major industries, universities and government agencies throughout the world who participate in its Corporate Membership program. SEM Corporate Members realize the importance of having employees supplied with current experimental-mechanics data. Through their financial support they also assure that a forum for the exchange of vital technological information continues, as it has in SEM since 1943. Each year, through an awards program, SEM formally recognizes outstanding individual achievement. The Society wishes to take this opportunity to recognize and thank the following firms and organizations which support its activities through Corporate Membership and involvement. Following is a brief profile of those organizations which became SEM Corporate Members since the last listing one year ago.
NEW SUSTAINING MEMBERS Endevco is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of dynamic instrumentation for pressure, vibration and shock measurement. Endevco was founded in 1951, and is headquartered in a modem 125,000-square-foot facility located on a 13-acre site in San Juan Capistrano, California. Additional facilities include a manufacturing plant in the Virgin Islands, and a research laboratory in Sunnyvale, California. Worldwide sales and service support is provided by a network of Endevco-owned offices and independent representative firms. Besides off-the-shelf precision transducers and signal conditioners, Endevco designs and manufactures state-of-the-art transducers and systems to satisfy unique customer needs. These include in-flight vibration monitors to reduce aircraft engine maintenance costs, high temperature accelerometers to help keep nuclear power plants safe and reliable, acoustic transducers, special accelerometers and pressure transducers to meet stringent demands of the aerospace industry, and calibration systems for all these products. Endevco has the largest and most complete concentration of research, development and manufacturing facilities in the dynamic instrumentation field. A fully-integrated manufacturing operation allows control of scheduling and product quality from the raw materials stage to the finished product, thus ensuring timely delivery of high quality instrumentation.

NEW EDUCATIONAL NON-PROFIT MEMBERS The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is one of the three campuses comprising The University of Alabama System. UAH grew steadily from the late 1950’s and today serves 8,000 students. The College of Engineering offers bachelor, masters and doctoral degrees with programs in chemical, civil, mechanical, industrial and systems, and electrical and computer engineering. The College has approximately 1450 undergraduate and 500 graduate students, with approximately 50 full-time and 50 adjunct faculty. Research in experimental mechanics and applied optics at UAH is conducted by faculty and staff associated with the College of Engineering, the College of Science, and the Center for Applied Optics. The contact person for these efforts is Dr. John A. Gilbert, Professor and Director of Civil Engineering.
