The Uzbek metallurgists together with the entire Soviet nation have celebrated the 50th anniversary of Soviet power with glorious labor achievements. The collective of our plant has fulfilled its obligations with respect to the production of steel and roiled product in excess of the plan. The quality of the goods was improved considerably, the productivity of labor was raised, and production expenses were cut. What is the reason for success of our collective? First of all it is the great organizational work which was carried out by the party and trade union organizations. As early as the start of the year the struggle began for a thrifty, economic consumption of materials, raw materials, electrical energy, and means. A plant commission for economy and thrift was created. The plant workers actively participated in this movement, submitted their suggestions which were then examined and realized. The trade union organizations devotes great attention to supervision of the competition. The results of the work of brigades, sections, and shops are discussed at shift meetings, and the victors of the competition are awarded the Challenge Red Banner. Stories of the leading production workers are told in the wall newsletters, in "news flashes." The brigades of A. Kuchkin, foreman of the 300 mill, and N. Mirzoev, foreman of the sheet mill, made an excellent showing thisyear. Steelmakers of the No. 2 open-hearth furnace A. Zyablov, V. Dubov, and S. Kruglov were outstanding in their achievements. Life has proved that collectives bearing the title of brigades and departments of communist labor and those struggling for the right to bear this title demonstrate better results in production activity, serve as a model of behavior in daily life, in community life, and in study. The plant trade union committee constantly supervises the course of the struggle for communist labor, varies the form of this movement, and sees that elements of formalism do not steal into it. The awarding of honorary titles to coilectives and shockworkers of communist labor is a festive occasion in which many workers participate. The trade union activists, and we have more than 350 of them, constantly see how the collectives warrant the high title awarded to them. The Uzbek metallurgists are marking the 9th Congress of their trade union with new labor victories.
