INTERNATIONAL BARIATRIC SURGERY REGISTRY IBSR The Internationa l Bariatric Surgery Registry (IBSR) is a non-profit data analysis center for bariatric surgery. The purpose of the IBSR is to promote optimum care of patients undergoing surgical treatment of severe obesity through standardized data collection and analyses. Since 1986, the 28 analyses have included patient summaries (Fig. 1), operative information (Fig. 2) and available outcome (Fig. 3). The IBSR membership has published 11 articles in refereed journals, presented at the NIH (1991), reported results at the ASBS (1987-2000), and provided 11 software releases.
