Postdoctoral Museum Internship at t h e N e w Y o r k B o t a n i c a l Garden 1986-1987 The New York Botanical Garden announces a postdoctoral internship in curatorial techniques and herbarium management beginning 1 September 1986 for nine months, with the possibility of an extension to twelve months if funds become available. This position is supported by the National Museum Act, which is administered by the Smithsonian Institution. The stipend is $1300 per month. Health insurance can be arranged. This program is designed for a person wishing to receive training in curating and managing systematics collections. Following detailed instruction sessions, the trainee will participate actively in all aspects of herbarium work. In addition to annotating and curating specimens in a family or group of the lrainee's choice, the intern will be asked to select a project which involves one of the Garden's historical collections and which will result in a published paper. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae and a letter detailing how this program will be beneficial to them. Applications and three letters of recommendation should be sent to: Dr. Patricia K.
