An investigationwas made by VNIIPTkhimash into the durability of industrial r u b b e r s IRP-1225, Kr-428, IRP-1256, IRP-1257, IRP-1259, IRP-1309, 1252, 829, and 2566 in fluorio and glacial acetic acids and in dimethyl f o r m a m i d e at normal and high t e m p e r a t u r e . It was found that the butyl rubbers IRP-1256 and IRP-1309 were the most durable (Fig. 1). F r o m m e a s u r e m e n t s of the swelling of the r u b b e r s it was observed that IRP-1309 r u b b e r 1.5 • 0.3 m m thickness remained i m p e r m e a b l e in 100% and 25% fluoric acid at 20~ for 6200 and 4500 h, r e s p e c tively, in glacial acetic acid at 20~ for 1200 h; and in 100% d i m e t h y l f o r m a m i d e at 20~ for 22,800 h, and at 35~ for 8400 h. gp,~. 4
