It is our pleasure to announce the Primate Social Impact Award 2017. The first smile: spontaneous smiles in newborn Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata) (Kawakami et al. 2017). Both papers got a lot of media attention, were frequently mentioned in social networks, and highly downloaded. Their work thus contributed greatly to enhancing the reputation of our journal.
